Brigitte is a Provisional Psychologist who is completing her final placement for her postgraduate training in clinical psychology. Before entering psychology, she began a career in finance but soon realised that she was far more drawn to working directly with people.

Brigitte has since worked across disability and community psychology settings, supporting children, adolescents and adults with anxiety, specific fears, emotional regulation difficulties, neurodivergence and parenting concerns.

She has a particular interest in working with preschool and primary-school-aged children and their families. Brigitte enjoys helping children understand their emotions, build practical skills and develop confidence, while working closely with parents and caregivers to support progress beyond the therapy room.

Brigitte understands children within the context of their relationships, family and everyday environment. She values finding creative ways to make therapy something children feel comfortable participating in while helping families create meaningful and sustainable changes in everyday life.

Brigitte provides services under appropriate supervision, including:

  • individual psychological intervention for preschool and primary-school-aged children;
  • intervention for anxiety, worries and specific fears;
  • support with emotional regulation and coping skills;
  • support with adjustment to change and life transitions;
  • neurodiversity-affirming support for autistic children and children with ADHD;
  • parent consultation and psychoeducation;
  • support following a diagnosis of ADHD or specific learning disorder;
  • parent–child relationship and attachment-informed support;
  • support for learning difficulties, academic engagement and school wellbeing;
  • cognitive assessment;
  • academic and learning assessment;
  • behavioural and emotional assessment;
  • neurodiversity-affirming assessment practices;
  • group programs, including anxiety-focused programs where appropriate; and
  • preschool and school consultation.
Psychology

Brigitte takes a warm, playful and family-centred approach. Her work is strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming, attachment-informed and responsive to each child’s developmental stage.

She draws upon Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy-informed strategies. With younger children, these approaches may be adapted through play, stories, games, visual supports, creative activities and parent involvement.

Brigitte listens carefully to the child’s perspective and uses their interests and strengths to build engagement. She aims to help children understand their internal experiences, communicate their needs and practise skills that are meaningful within everyday situations.

Brigitte also considers the broader family system and recognises that children’s wellbeing is influenced by their relationships and environments. She works collaboratively with parents, caregivers, educators and other professionals to support greater consistency across home, preschool, school and community settings.

Brigitte’s particular professional interests include:

  • early childhood and preschool-aged children;
  • anxiety, worries and specific fears;
  • separation anxiety and transitions;
  • emotional regulation and big feelings;
  • attachment and parent–child relationships;
  • parenting support and understanding behaviour;
  • autism and ADHD;
  • confidence and social participation; and
  • family-centred and systemic intervention.

Outside psychology, Brigitte loves being outdoors, whether she is going for a run, stand-up paddleboarding on the creek or taking her two dogs on an adventure. She is a lifelong animal lover and has also had rabbits, chickens and donkeys. Brigitte’s favourite children’s book is The Invisible String, closely followed by Hey Warrior. She also enjoys a game of Jenga, especially when questions are added to the blocks, even though she admits that winning is not her strength. As the eldest of four children, Brigitte grew up in a busy family and has always enjoyed the energy, humour and occasional chaos that come with being surrounded by children and families. She enjoys being part of the local community and looks forward to getting to know more families in the area.
