Frequently Asked Questions – AHA Programs

An Allied Health Assistant (AHA) is a trained professional with a Certificate IV Allied Health Assistance or university student studying to become a registered Allied Health Professional (AHP), who works under the supervision of qualified allied health clinicians (such as psychologists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and physiotherapists) to help children achieve their therapy goals. AHAs do not assess or diagnose but instead deliver therapy activities based on programs designed by registered professionals.

Yes. AHA services can be claimed under the Improved Daily Living category for NDIS participants who are plan-managed or self-managed. We recommend discussing this with your plan manager or support coordinator to ensure it’s included in your child’s funding plan.

All AHA’s are provided with fortnightly supervision with a registered Allied Health Professional (AHP’s). Programs are created and regularly reviewed by our team of AHP’s to ensure they align with your child’s individual goals and developmental needs.

For individual AHA sessions, therapy plans are reviewed quarterly by the supervising clinician.
For the POPS program, comprehensive reviews are completed once per school term (four times a year) by each relevant discipline.

In each POPS session, your child rotates through four 30-minute therapy blocks, each targeting a different area: motor skills, daily living skills, social and emotional skills, and speech and language skills. Midway through, all children enjoy a shared snack and participate in a social activity together to practise communication and interaction skills.

Both! The POPS program is delivered in a small group of four children, but each child receives individualised (1:1) therapy during each rotation. All activities are tailored to the child’s goals and needs.

Individual AHA sessions: $156.20 per session
POPS sessions: $104.00 per session, plus a share of program psychology time ($111 split across 4 children)

Yes, they do! Our Allied Health Assistants can attend sessionsĀ within local schools or community settings across the Hawkesbury Local Government Area (LGA). This helps support skill generalisation and collaboration with educators.

If a session is delivered off-site (e.g., at a school), a 30-minute travel fee (each way) will be added to the session cost:

  • Travel charge: $43.00 each way (billed at $86.79/hr)

We recommend speaking with our admin team to confirm whether your child’s school is within our catchment area and to discuss scheduling options.
